In 2004 we were exposed to the challenges of creating collaboration in the medical profession. A clinic in Midwestern US asked Steve Hinton to help them reduce their overhead when they had been unable to for over 12 years. This clinic used a form of our training and reached this goal in just three months. At the time we were unaware that the root of the problem was the underlying culture of mistrust, abuse and sabotage.
In 2010, while working with a client, we were exposed to the term “lateral violence.” As a team committed to conflict resolution and not understanding the term, we researched diligently and found that lateral violence was a dramatization of the real problem of mistreatment and disruptive behavior. The issue seemed to be so well documented we were surprised that no one had applied a successful system of training as a solution.
Armistice is born. Steve Hinton, Brett Lumpkin and Andrew Houglum joined together to modify a well established protocol for training and conflict resolution to solve this problem in the medical profession. We spent 15 months refining the content and application of our training to specifically address the cultural challenges in the healthcare environment.
We have a solution that we feel obligated to share with this profession. We would be remiss in not bringing our experience, skills and understanding to this industry to reduce if not eliminate the human suffering that is a result of this epidemic.
Working primarily as an organizational architect he founded and built businesses in retail (grocery and large ticket), service, wholesale distribution, and training industries.
Steve discovered that the underlying challenge in growing any business is the human factor and began to invest in developing leadership that area of business. Prior to forming Armistice Steve spent eight years as a partner in a leadership training company. His main focus was building business strategies, operations and sales around the human potential. Under Steve’s leadership the company became an international brand with over 800% growth, and training over 75,000 people. Steve is passionate about helping teams of people create profitable companies that are good to work for.
Steve lives in California and enjoys, motorcycle riding, Snow Skiing, camping, and traveling with family.
With a degree in business and 30 plus years in sales, consulting and executive coaching that spans five industries. Brett has been a top producing sales person in retail, real estate and insurance sales and launched his consulting business in 2004 to work with the personal development industry. Brett has spent the last 5 years as an executive consultant to a leadership development company training over 35,000 people to be more effective producers in their business.
Brett brings his professional acumen and communication skills to Armistice tailoring the training, coaching and support system to help our clients create a safer more productive environment.
Brett lives on the Central Coast of California with his wife Janett, and three children. He enjoys motorcycles, golf, surfing and traveling with family.
