HRACC Meeting - Resentment in the Workplace Tuesday, June 11, 2013 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM Madonna Inn 100 Madonna Road San Luis Obispo, CA 93405 Our Story
In 2004 we were exposed to the challenges of creating collaboration in the medical profession. A clinic in Midwestern US asked Steve Hinton to help them reduce their overhead when they had been unable to for over 12 years. This clinic used a form of our training and reached this goal in just three months. At the time we were unaware that the root of the problem was the underlying culture of mistrust, abuse and sabotage.
In 2010, while working with a client, we were exposed to the term “lateral violence.” As a team committed to conflict resolution and not understanding the term, we researched diligently and found that lateral violence was a dramatization of the real problem of mistreatment and disruptive behavior. The issue seemed to be so well documented we were surprised that no one had applied a successful system of training as a solution.
Armistice is born. Steve Hinton, Brett Lumpkin and Andrew Houglum joined together to modify a well established protocol for training and conflict resolution to solve this problem in the medical profession. We spent 15 months refining the content and application of our training to specifically address the cultural challenges in the healthcare environment.
We have a solution that we feel obligated to share with this profession. We would be remiss in not bringing our experience, skills and understanding to this industry to reduce if not eliminate the human suffering that is a result of this epidemic.
